Leigha A. Shepard
Leigha is passionate about helping people work toward achieving their financial goals and is a long-time student of the markets. She enjoys educating clients about the markets and how they work to better equip them in making wise financial decisions for themselves. She believes that her role in working with clients goes beyond just investments to understanding each client’s individual situation, personality and relationship with money and helping them define and work toward goals that have personal meaning to them and their families.
Leigha graduated from Baker University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. She has been helping clients plan for their future as a financial advisor for the last 21 years. She founded Midwest Financial Partners in December of 2005 following a nine year career with Merrill Lynch and a three year career with H&R Block Financial Advisors.
Leigha and her husband, John, live in Overland Park and they have four grown children and two grandchildren. She grew up in a small farming community in mid Missouri. Leigha has a heart for the homeless and a long history of volunteering and supporting City Union Mission. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, golfing and is an avid runner.
Steven D. Reichle
Steve’s mission as a Financial Advisor is to help grow and manage clients’ finances wisely while providing superior customer service. He values client relationships and works hard to earn their confidence and trust through diligently working on their behalf. His philosophy is to use a well developed retirement plan in managing a client’s assets and he uses it as the cornerstone of management process. The goal of the process is to make financial decisions simple! The unique combination of Steve’s wisdom and experience and Cole Reichle’s zeal and creativity make Midwest Financial Partners an ideal choice for clients.
Steve received a Bachelor of Business degree from Washburn University’s School of Business and successfully completed the “Certificate of Financial Planning” program at Kansas State University. He also worked as regional sales director for a financial services firm in Denver, Colorado. As a former commercial banker and Senior Vice President of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka, Steve has 30+ years experience in banking and financial services.
Steve and his wife have lived in the Topeka community for over 35 years. Steve has been active in the Topeka community, involved in the Optimist Club, the Lion’s Club, Junior Achievement, and the Southwest Youth Athletic Association. Steve currently volunteers in various capacities at a local church and a community college foundation. He also serves on the board of a local bank. Steve is committed to improving the community in which he lives, and he takes that same interest in helping his clients to improve their financial future.
Cole S. Reichle
Cole works with clients to find an individual financial plan that will help meet their needs and goals. He provides superior customer service and earns the client’s confidence and trust through his diligent work on their behalf.
Researching and evaluating the various financial products and how these products are performing in the current economic market is a skill in which Cole excels. This ability allows him to more effectively advise clients on the most appropriate products for their unique situation.
Cole received a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University. While at KSU, he was active on campus in Habitat for Humanity, Homeless for Hunger, and Kansas Breadbasket. Cole successfully completed the “Certificate of Financial Planning” program from the University of Missouri of Kansas City. Prior to his position at Midwest Financial Partners, Cole was employed by several financial firms in the consumer and mortgage finance areas. In addition he was a financial advisor for a large brokerage firm in Overland Park, KS.
Cole is an investment adviser representative and is licensed in health and life insurance.
Cole, his wife Abby, and their children reside in Lenexa, KS. Cole has been active in his community, participating on a softball team and volunteering for Junior Achievement and in the Special Olympics. He enjoys spending time with his family, working on electronics, reading and participating in sports.
Heather R. Smith
Heather believes that a strong financial plan begins with understanding a person’s motivation, mindset, and habits with money first and then connecting those money patterns and behavior with personal values. Without a clear understanding of what motivates each of us, it’s easy to be our own worst enemy with both money management and investing in the markets. In the financial arena, Heather strives to help clients improve their financial practices through self-awareness and accountability to reach their goals.
Heather has been with the MWFG team since 2014 coming to us with previous experience in the financial services industry. She is native to the Dallas/Fort Worth area with a business degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Venturing to Kansas City after college, she fell in love with the Midwest. Heather is an investment advisory representative for the firm with a life and health insurance license. Currently she is studying to acquire her certification in financial planning to better serve our clients’ needs.
Heather lives in Overland Park, KS with her beagle, Milo. In her spare time, you can find Heather playing outdoors with her pup, reading, and volunteering at her church.
Rick Ryan, CFP®
Rick’s focus is on comprehensive financial planning taking into consideration the full aspect of his client’s financial life including retirement planning, investment planning, risk management, tax planning and estate planning viewing each piece to complete the client’s financial picture. Rick runs a high touch, full service practice. As such, he requires clients to meet with him a minimum of twice per year to keep abreast of changing lives and active markets. His mantra is “It’s not about the money, it’s about the life!”
Rick has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Washburn University. His is a Certified Financial Planner and a Chartered Financial Consultant. He spent the first 25 years of his career with Security Benefit Group working in administration, sales and product and market development. Since 2000, he has been working with clients providing financial planning services.
Rick and his wife, Cyndi, have two adult married children and four perfect grandchildren. They live in Topeka where he is active in his church, his Rotary Club and Free Masonry. He serves on the Board of the Kansas Masonic Foundation, The Topeka Civic Theatre and Academy Foundation and Kansas Masonic Literacy Center based in Emporia.
Tammy J. Johnston
Tammy started her career with Midwest Financial Partners in 2015. She runs the front desk greeting clients with a smile and making them feel welcome to the office. She coordinates all appointments for the associates and is increasingly involved with more of the business as her tenure increases. She loves meeting the broad array of client base that the company serves.
Tammy started her career studying at University of Central Missouri in Business and began working at Mutual of Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska in Customer Education, instructing and enrolling employees in self-study programs to benefit their area of expertise.
After her tenure at Mutual of Omaha, Tammy relocated to Olathe and began a dual career as a homemaker and mother to four wonderful children, as well as Elementary/Sacramental Coordinator at Prince of Peace Catholic Church for 17 years before joining MFP.
Tammy has always been involved in the community through her church and its initiatives to improve the lives of parishioners. Currently, Tammy is engaged to a wonderful man, Patrick. She will soon have two new step-daughters and two step-grandsons. Tammy is a proud “Gramma” to her youngest daughter’s first-born son, Dauson, age 15 months. She also has an awesome daughter-in-law, Caitlin, wife of her son Travis.
